Claybury Park:

  • Stock Dove, Great Spotted Woodpecker (Alan Hobson)
Hainault, Hannover Gardens:

  • Garden Sightings: Today there were a pair of greater-spotted woodpeckers on the feeders and appeared to be drumming and displaying in the trees (let's hope for the patter of little beaks later in the year),
  • individual sightings and those of green woodpeckers are quite frequent.
  • A Grey heron is a regular fly over, seen most days.
  • We still get up to seven goldfinches regularly and two pairs of chaffinches.
  • Sightings of wrens are also becoming more frequent. (Eddie Barnes)
Roding Valley Park, South Woodford:

  • Jay, 2 Long-tailed Tits (Alan Hobson)
South Woodford, garden:
  • 1 grey heron flying low over the house at 9am with lots of wing feathers missing
  • 2 goldfinch (second sighting in a week)
  • 2 Long tailed tits (also saw them over the weekend) first time in the garden for 2 years
  • Flock of c20 waxwing - about 20 at a very rough guess.
  • Sparrows and Starlings squabbling on a neighbour's roof - presumably over a nesting site.
  • And a blue tit is hanging around the nest box again...(Peter Gordon)

Wanstead Park:

  • Wanstead Park: 11 Pied Wagtail together (momentous),
  • 1 or possibly 2 Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (first drumming, then seen in flght, 'second' 400yds from first an hour later drumming but not seen),
  • 25 Siskin (Jonathan Lethbridge)
Woodford Bridge Pond:

  • 12 Canada Goose, 60 Mallard, 3 Moorhen
  • 30 Black Headed Gull
  • 1 singing Blue Tit (DEH)
Woodford Bridge, Roding Lane North Playing Fields:

  • Large mixed flock of over 50 birds, including Fieldfares, Redwings, Song Thrushes, Green Woodpecker, Blackbirds, Robins [so 5 species of thrush],
  • Common Gull, Starlings and Woodpigeons. (Alan Hobson)

  • Mistle Thrush
  • Lesser Black Backed Gull (Alan Hobson)
