Roding Valley Park, south:
  • 1 Kingfisher - a first. I saw it 4 times and every time I was about to take a photo it flew off.
  • 1 Kestrel - the male still there, I think that's 5 weeks now so looks like he's staying.
  • 1 cormorant - again on the river like a couple of weeks ago
  • 2 Moorhen
  • 6 Jays
  • Lots of gulls, mallards, crows, magpies, tits (PGordon)
Valentines Park:
  • Green woodpecker
  • Grey wagtail
  • f pochard
  • young Great Crested Grebe - interesting views of it swimming underwater near the island where it's shallow, 4 little grebe
  • 2 cormorant (Barbara J)
  • possible male Merlin through
Wanstead Flats:
  • Today's word is "Visimig" brought to you by the number "shed-loads" - Lapland Bunting (flew over broom fields to south),
  • 2+ Bramblings through north (NC)
  • 2 Ring Ouzel still present (1 around Long Wood, showing well c.12:00 on the football pitches east of centre road, second bird in scrub east of Alexandra Lake but flew off east) (Stuart Fisher/NC/Marco Johnston/Rare Bird Alert),
  • 2 Stonechat, 500+ Starling, 300+ Redwing (over), 30+ Song Thrush, 10+ Blackbird, 15+ Mistle Thrush, many Robin,
  • 25 + Chaffinch, Goldfinch, 20+ Greenfinch, Siskin (north), 15 Linnet (1 flock of 14),
  • 2 Reed Bunting,
  • 40+ Meadow Pipit, 10 Pied Wagtail, 20+ Skylark,
  • 40+ Jackdaw (1 flock),
  • 4 Swallow (+ mixed flock of hirundines over south flats c.70),
