Wanstead Flats:
  • (06:00-11:00): Little Egret (North east over Alex),
  • 2 Egyptian Goose (for about ten minutes until a numpty spooked them, then orf west),
  • Lapwing (again circling Alex before departing east),
  • 27 Ring-necked Parakeet (north over Alex),
  • 27 Cormorant (over), c.50 Black-headed Gull,
  • 10 Lesser Black-backed Gull, 4 Common Gull, 4 Herring Gull, 1 Great Black-backed Gull (south),
  • c.20 Mistle Thrush, 5 SongThrush,
  • 10 House Martin, 1 Sand Martin, Swift (numbers picked up by mid-morning but fewer than in previous days),
  • 7 Tufted Duck,
  • 11 Green Woodpecker (including young), 5 Great Spotted Woodpecker,
  • Chiffchaff, Blackcap (v. quiet), Whitethroat,
  • Stock Dove, Collared Dove,
  • Grey Wagtail,
  • Reed Bunting,
  • female Sparrowhawk carrying something smaller than a Starling this time (49 sp again) (Nick Croft)
