Five Oaks Lane Scrubland:
  • 3 male Yellowhammer (great to have this bird in the borough),
  • Little Owl,
  • 2 prs Lesser Whitethroat,
  • heard Cuckoo & Nightingale (Dan Barrett)

Goodmayes Park:

  • 2 Mute swan (more than 1 cygnet, unable to count as family obscured under island),
  • 14 Canada geese, 5 Greylag Geese, 14 Mallard, 19 Tufted Duck, 16 Coot, 1 Moorhen,
  • 7 Linnet (Rec ground),
  • 1 Green woodpecker (Rec Ground). (IWoodward)

South Park:

  • 2 Mute swan (+5 cygnets),
  • 2 Great-crested grebes,
  • 63 Canada geese, 37 Mallard, 16 Tufted Duck,
  • 20 Coot, 4 Moorhen,
  • 2 Grey wagtail,
  • 2 Stock dove,
  • 2 Blackcap (Ian Woodward)

Valentines Park:

  • 12 Mute Swans, (pr with 8 young on the boating lake, another non breeding pr on the Fish Pond )
  • Canada Geese, 1 Greylag Goose (hybrid), 1 (male) Egyptian Goose
  • Mallards, Tufted Ducks, pr Pochard (boating lake), Coot, Moorhen
  • Grey Heron faimly (3 chicks plus adult) all doing well
  • Sparrowhawk (circling high, slowly moving SW) at 11.15am
  • Feral Pigeon, Wood Pigeons, 2 Stock Dove, Collared Doves
  • 6 Swift
  • 3 Great Spotted Woodpecker (pr, plus 1 juvenile seen, actively being fed)
  • 3 Pied Wagtail
  • Wren, Robin, Blackbird, Mistle Thrush,
  • Great Tit, Blue Tit, 3 Long Tailed Tit,
  • Carrion Crows, Magpie, Starlings, 6 House Sparrow, Chaffinch, Greenfinch (U3A Birding Group via Mike Condon)

Wanstead Flats:

  • Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (male) seen feeding young (PFerris)

Woodford Green, Broadmead Estate:

  • pair of Jackdaws (DEH)
Roding Valley Meadows: (just outside the borough)
  • Quail singing from 'Luscious Mead' 9.10 - 9.30pm at least, also heard mid afternoon. Approx 400m north of David Lloyd Centre, on the east side of the river, north of the lake (Jono Lethbridge & David Bradnum - thanks to H&P Vaughn for the news)
