South Woodford, garden:

  • the Blue Tits featuring in the web cam series hatched 2 eggs so far today (9 more to follow). Video clips to follow tomorrow... (via PGordon)

Valentines Park:

  • Tern sp over (TLachhar)
  • the Mute Swans nestin on the boating lake are confirmed to be sitting on 7 eggs (Ian Cranston)
  • A Mallard Duck near the boating lake island now has 22 ducklings in her care! I watched as they all jumped off the island one after another to follow her in the water. They appear to be from at least 3 different broods judging by size. A passer by I spoke to said she had been stealing them from other broods!
  • 3 Great Crested Grebes (pr on nest and 1 more)
  • 7 Stock Doves feeding together under the trees - most I've seen here
  • Grey Heron and Egyptian Goose families doing well (Barbara J)

Wanstead Flats:

  • (05:00–10:00): Reed Warbler (Alexandra pond),
  • Tree Pipit (west of East Copse),
  • Blackbird, Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Robin,
  • Carrion Crow, Jackdaw, 6 Jay, Magpie,
  • Mallard, Tufted Duck, 6 Shoveler (over NE–Tim Harris),
  • Greylag Goose, Canada Goose, Mute Swan,
  • 12 Lesser Black Backed Gull (one who made off with a Coot chick), 1 Common Gull,
  • Kestrel, Sparrowhawk, possible Peregrine,
  • 13 Ring Necked Parakeet,
  • 10 Swallow, 1 Sand Martin, 4 Swift,
  • Lesser Whitethroat, Whitethroat, Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap,
  • 30+ Cormorant (over),
  • Linnet, Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Dunnock, Wren, Skylark, Starling, Collared Dove, Stock dove, Wood Pigeon, Green Woodpecker, Greater Spotted Woodpecker, Blue tit, Great Tit, Long-tailed Tit, Little Grebe, House Sparrow (Nick Croft)
