  • Sparrowhawk - Seen at 7.32am flying from tree from surrounding gardens pursued by a Crow & Magpie.
  • Coal Tit - Seen at 6.05pm being harrased trying to feed from feeder by male chaffinch.

  • a Kingfisher at the pond in Claybury Park. I could hardly beleive my eyes, but definite about this id. Surprisingly, it flew off southwards, over nearby houses. Perhaps a bird exploring garden ponds from the Roding valley? (Bill Neate)

  • House Martins - 5 seen flying over back gardens area for just under a minute as I got a good look with my bins picking of insects - A first for over back gardens in our area.
  • Sparrowhawk - Female on a reckkie past my garden then eventually flying away elsewhere.

  • House Sparrows - 14+ around garden & feeders.
  • Greenfinches - c12 Mixture of (J&A) some on water feature & most around feeders.
  • Chaffinches - c10 around feeders & feeding from ground.

  • Blue & Great tits - Many Blue tits flying around picking of insects & roughly 4 Great tits seen feeding on feeders.

  • Sparrowhawk - Female seen at 10.37am trying to catch a Greenfinch amongst tree branches & also trying to catch a Blue tit once it missed the Greenfinch but unfortunately with no luck on either occasion.

  • Greenfinches - c9 seen mixture (J&A).
  • Chaffinches - c11 seen flying around garden catching insects & feeding fromfeeders.

  • Whinchats - 2 Females seen at 9.30am one on rockery in dense shrubs next tokarting fence then perched on end of tree branch & the other one on Kartingfence before flying off into surrounding golf course area.
  • Hobby - Seen at 10.00am over trying to catch a Martin over golf course which was unsuccessful but still spectacular to watch.
  • Kestrel - 2 Seen one over boating lake hovering at 11.30am roughly and the other near the riding school area a bit later.
  • Garden Warbler - Heard in shrubs opposite the lagoon along one of path ways around boating lake.
  • Chiffchaff - Heard in back ground after first arriving somewhere at the back of main lake area.
  • Plus: Robins, Greenfinches, Great tits, Blue tits, Long tailed tits, Crows, Cormorants + Juveniles, Lapwings, Tufted Ducks, Great Crested Grebes, Little Grebe - along side Lagoon., Canada Geese's, Coots ,Moorhens, Mallard Ducks ,Pied Wagtails - Some on top of club house & also on ground in front of lake.

  • Black headed Gulls, Herring Gulls & couple Juveniles, Grey Herons
  • Mute Swans + single Mute Swan with 5 cygnets
  • Magpies, Goldfinches (Adults & Juveniles), Chaffinches, Willow Warblers, Green Woodpecker - Heard., Dunnocks Woodpigeons,
  • Starlings - Hundreds seen especially one flock which most probably had over, 500 easily.,
  • Collared Doves, Feral pigeons

Wanstead Flats:
  • Turtle Dove, Spotted Flycatcher, 2 Whinchat (Stuart Fisher)

Gants Hill:

  • Great Spotted Woodpeckers - Male still present & Immature female with barley little of red on crown (previously Juvenile) on peanut feeder late evening.
  • House Sparrows - At least 20+ in around garden today.
  • Greenfinches - c10 around feeder & in tree.
  • Chaffinches - Around 8 seen could be more at the back of garden were view is obscured.
  • Blue & Great tits - Good numbers flying around in garden.
  • Goldfinch - One adult feeding from nyjer seed feeder.
  • Plus - 5 Magpies, 4 Starlings, 2 Dunnocks, 2 Robins (J&A), 2 Blackbirds (M&F), 1 Collard Dove, 1 Woodpigeon & 11 Feral pigeons.
  • Shock, Horror! "No sighting of Coal tit today only second time not seen in
  • two months of continuous visits - I hope it hasn't gone on to pastures new".

  • Tree Pipit,
  • 5 Whitethroat,

Gants Hill:

  • Coal Tit - Still present.
  • Great Spotted Woodpecker - Male still present.
  • House Sparrows - Around 15+ in & around garden.
  • Greenfinches - Mixture of Juveniles & adults c10.
  • Chaffinches - 8+ in garden around feeders & on ground.
  • Blue & Great tits - Quite a number in trees & around feeders.
  • Goldfinch - One again on nyjer feeder & main feeder.
  • Plus - 6 Starlings, 3 Magpies, 2 Robins (J&A), 1 Dunnock, 1 Collard Dove, 1
  • Woodpigeon & 8 Feral Pigeons.

  • Robin, Collared Dove, Black headed gulls, Cormorants
  • Common Sandpiper - One feeding along side of main island.
  • Lapwings & Juveniles
  • Coots & Juveniles, Little Grebes, Moorhens & Juveniles, Mallard Ducks & Juveniles
  • Pied Wagtails, Grey Heron
  • Mute Swans & Signets
  • Great Crested Grebes & Juveniles
  • Tufted Ducks & Juveniles, Canada Geese's - Lots

  • Swifts - 2 seen flying over boating lake.
  • Goldfinches & Juveniles - Lots in shrubs beside karting fence
  • Dunnock, Willow warblers, Blackcap - female in shrubs beside main lake.
  • Greenfinches - Seen on main island on top of trees & shrubbery.
  • Green Woodpecker - Heard behind karting fence area.
  • Chaffinches, Blue tits, Wren - Heard from surrounding shrubs.
  • Magpies, Woodpigeons
  • Starlings - Two flocks...One flock on main island the other flock behind golf course area.

  • Coal Tit - Still present into eighth week now..."Seventh last week & not sixth as stated by me".
  • Great Spotted Woodpecker - Male still present roughly about the same period of time as above.
  • House Sparrows - 12+ in around garden.
  • Greenfinches - c9 in garden mixture of (J&A).
  • Chaffinches - M&F c10 on garden feeders.
  • Blue & Great tits - Good numbers around in garden.
  • Goldfinch - One adult on main feeder.
  • Plus - 6 Starlings, 4 Magpies, 2 Blackbirds (M&F), 2 Robins (J&A), 1 Dunnock, 1 Collard Dove, 1 Woodpigeon & 11 Feral pigeons.
