Fairlop Gravel Pits:



  • 2 pairs of Lapwing displaying, also 2 Redshank, 5 Little Ringed Plover and 1 Green Sandpiper still present.
  • 1 Shelduck, pair of Gadwall, pair of Shoveler, and a few Mallard, Tufted Duck, Mute Swan, Canada Goose, Moorhen and Coot.
  • a few Swallows and 2 Sand Martins.
  • 1 female Wheatear near the gates.
  • several Skylark singing, Meadow Pipit, Pied Wagtail and Chaffinches also present.
  • Green Woodpecker and Chiffchaff calling from near the Scout Camp
  • 3 Grey Heron (DEH)
  • Sparrowhawk (Jonathan Makengo/Ryan Rnlanda)

Wanstead Flats:

  • male Ring Ousel on the northern playing field, Willow Warbler, 3 Whitethroat and 4 Blackcap (JLethbridge/SFisher)

Seven Kings Park:

  • Mistle Thrush gathering worms

Eagle Pond:

  • Kestrel eating a vole or mouse in the woods by Eagle Pond. (Peter Gordon)
  • Great Crested Grebe

South Woodford:

  • Sparrowhawk soaring over South Woodford (PG)

Fairlop Waters:

  • Common Sandpiper (AAB)
  • 2 Lesser Whitethroat (AAB)

City of London Cemetery: (just outside the borough)

  • 2 Lesser Whitethroat behind the Cemetery, 1 giving a lot of subsong (PF)
