Loxford:
  • 4 Fieldfares in private garden. (JMak)
Fairlop Waters:
  • 257 Black Headed Gulls and 70 Common Gulls on the main lake (which is 75% frozen)
  • 26 Moorhen, 59 Coot.
  • 4 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Little Grebe
  • 126 Canada Geese and 17 Greylag Geese
  • 41 Pochard, 67 Tufted Duck, 27 Mallard, 26 Gadwall, 30 Teal
  • Great Tits, Blue Tits and Long Tailed Tits a plenty.
  • 3 Chaffinches and 2 Greenfinches near the lake.
  • 2 Stock Doves over the farm
  • Small party of birds moving through the reserve included 4 Goldfinches, 2 Reed Buntings, 5 Meadow Pipits and a male Yellowhammer.
  • Blackbird, Song Thrush, Wren, Robin, Dunnock, Carrion Crow, Magpie, Jay, Wood Pigeon, Starling.
  • 26 Fieldfare on the reserve, making a lot of noise, also 3 Redwing.
  • 2 Green Woodpecker, one near the stables, and one on Farilop works.
  • 2 male Kestrel making a lot of noise calling when perched and in flight.
  • male Sparrowhawk being a little more subtle flew from the trees surrounding the lagoon, accross the golf course in silence.
  • 2 Mute Swans on the works...sitting on the ice
  • 50+ Lapwing, 20+ Snipe and 2 Green Sandpiper on the works.
  • female Stonechat, 10 Skylark and another 10+ Meadow Pipit around the works
  • 4 Pheasant, 1 was very comically trying to walk away from me up the ice!
  • 2 Pied Wagtail and 1 Grey Wagtail.
  • Loads more Common and Black Headed Gulls on the works, with 3 Lesser Black Backed Gulls and a single Herring Gull.
Wanstead Park:
  • Red Crested Pochard pair still on Heronry Pond (Kathy Hartnett/JL)
  • 33 Pochard, 105 Coot, plus Tufted Ducks, Mallards and Moorhens on Heronry Pond. (JL)
  • only 2 Little Grebe. (JL)
  • 7 Meadow Pipit and 2 Green Woodpecker feeding on the field behind the kiosk. (JL)
  • Jay and 2 possible (probable) Siskin, (not 100% id'd) (JL)
  • Chiffchaff calling in Resevoir Wood. (JL)
Bush Wood, Wanstead:
  • female Sparrowhawk, and the usual Tits. (JL)
Wanstead Flats:
  • 2 Greylag Geese with the Canada Goose flock by Alexandra Lake. (JL)
  • 2 Pied Wagtail around the margins. (JL)
  • Single Shoveler. (JL)
  • Sparrowhawk circling and being mobbed by Carrion Crow. (JL)
  • Fieldfare, north of Long Wood. (JL)
  • Kestrel, heading over east. (JL)
Valentines Park:
  • Adult Mediterranean Gull (DBa)
  • 20 Siskins, Coal Tit, 3 Goldcrests, Green Woodpecker (DBa)
Grange Hill:
  • female Blackcap (Ian Shaw)
