Fairlop Waters:

  • 15 Mute Swan, 3 Greylag Geese and 133 Canada Geese (spread out over the various ponds)
  • 1 Great Crested Grebe and 3 Little Grebe
  • The male Shelduck on the gravel works has been joined by a female!
  • Duck Count: 41 Mallard, 60+ Teal, 74 Gadwall, 18 Pocahrd, 30+ Shoveler, 97 Tufted Duck, 70+ Coot, 25+ Moorhen
  • Waders on the gravel works: 200+ Lapwing, 50+ Golden Plover, 16 Snipe, 3 Green Sandpiper plus a Snipe on Fairlop Plain
  • 1 Grey Heron on the gravel works.
  • 200+ Wood Pigeon, and a flock of 26 Stock Doves on the gravel works.
  • c700 Gulls, mostly Black Headed Gulls, and Common Gulls, but at least 10 Lesser Black Backed Gulls and a few Herring Gulls.
  • 1 Kestrel hunting over Painters Road.
  • 4 Pied Wagtail, and a flock of 18 Linnet on the gravel works, with a female Stonechat
  • 1 male Reed Bunting on Farilop Plain.
  • Large numbers of Carrion Crow, Magpie, Blackbird, Robin, Wren, Blue Tit, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit, and a few Goldcrest, House Sparrow, Starling and 4 Dunnock.
  • 3 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch and 2 Siskin near the lagoon.
  • 2 Great Spotted Woodpecker drumming and 2 Green Woodpecker calling
Wanstead Flats:
  • 1 male Reed Bunting, 7 Meadow Pipit, 1 Pied Wagtail (Jonathan Lethbridge)
  • 2 Mute Swan, pair of Gadwall, 6 Tufted Duck, 20+ Mallard, c20 Canada Geese on Jubille Pond (JL)
  • 50+ Common Gull, 20+ Black Headed Gull (JL)
  • 1 Goldfinch drinking by the pond (JL)
  • 15 House Sparrow, 80+ Starling, 2 Song Thrush singing, c30 Carrion Crow (JL)
Wanstead Park:
  • Lesser Spotted Woodpecker (Rare Birds Alert)
  • Redwing near Warren Road track (Paul Ferris)
Claybury Park:
  • at least 6 Stock Doves (near Tomswood Hill) flushed from the ground.
  • 7 Meadow Pipits in the long grass.
  • 2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers drumming, and 2 Green Woodpeckers
  • 4 Nuthatch in the treetops.
  • Blue Tit, Great Tit, LongTailed Tit and Greenfinch, Wood Pigeon, Carrion Crow and Magpie. (DEH)
